CHAPTER 6

KENT

I looked down at Clark in alarm. Without stopping to think, I grabbed his shoulders and gave him a shake. "Clark! Come back to me, honeybuns! Don't scare me like this!" I was shouting as I shook him, terrified to the core.

His eyelids fluttered open, and those emerald green gazed up at me with confusion. "Wha—what happened?"

"You passed out when I told you that I heard three heartbeats." My heart was racing and I was still frantically gripping his shoulders.

"Oh, yeah." He slumped backward onto his pillow. "So it's true, huh? All that wasn't a dream then?"

Releasing his shoulders, I stretched out on my side with my head propped up on my hand as I leaned on my elbow and bicep. I reached out with my other hand and rubbed a gentle circle over his bare abdomen. Trying to picture how within the next four to five months his six pack would soften and stretch as our cubs grew within him. Cubs that even now were in there.

I glanced up when I felt him staring at me, and smiled softly. "Is this weird? I'm just so amazed that we're actually here and this is finally happening for us. After a lifetime of dreaming of you, we are together." I blinked away the tears that were filling my eyes, embarrassed to be caught being so sentimental.

"Hey, don't do that." I looked up to see Clark gazing fondly at me. "Don't hide your emotions, Romeo. It's okay to have a sensitive side, Mr. Alpha. I won't tell anyone, I'll even pinky swear on it."

I smirked and leaned over to capture his lips. This time I knew to keep my eyes open until I made contact. No more bloody noses on my account. After a sweet kiss, I pulled back and said, "No pinky swears necessary, honeybuns. I will trust you with all my secrets, after all, you're the guy holding my heart."

Clark looked at me for a second, then snickered. "You are so lucky that I love you. I could make bank from your brothers if I repeated that shit." Then he grew serious and reached up to stroke my goatee. "I love you, Kent. Even if you're a cornball, you're my cornball and I like it."

"Okay, whatever. Brat." I snorted and pulled him into my arms. "Should we get up and see about breakfast or do you want to get some more sleep?"

"We should sleep. We have a big trip ahead of us later today." He yawned and rested an arm around my waist.

"We do? Are we seriously going to follow up on our dream without researching it?" I had to admit he had a point. The fact that an actual friggin’ goddess had visited us made it pretty urgent.

"Kent. How the fuck are we supposed to research it? I'm pretty sure that we're on uncharted territory here. But we can talk to our dads about it over breakfast." His eyes fluttered shut, signalling that he was indeed ready to sleep some more.
